Mary Taylor is a New Zealand artist, born in Devonport. She paints using oils, water-colours but majority of the time she creates limited edition, hand-coloured etchings. Mary Taylor's work can be described as rich, meticulous, rhythmic and grounded in realism. Her etchings and paintings draw inspiration and subject matter from New Zealand's unique flora and fauna, landscape, seascape and pristine wilderness. Her etchings are a time-consumming and manual process following a traditional method of hand drawing on Zinc plates - acid etching and aqua-tinting or hand colouring. Each one is unique in its own right and will vary from others in the edition.
